Make Disciples not Converts

Jesus said to go into the world and make disciples not converts. Unfortunately much of what goes on from the front is measured by how many people make a decision and join the movement. Jesus made it easy for people to leave and hard for them to stay. Have you ever wondered why so many of us seem to favor the opposite approach?

I know in my own life it was all down to me looking good and the way I measured this was by the results those I led had in their careers. The more and better they performed the better I felt about myself. Over time the results became my God and my God became the place where I went to get help to get the results I believed I needed.

When we focus on gaining converts we show that all we are interested in is covering what is true and real about ourselves through a set of results. When we focus on making disciples we show that what matters to us is not quantity nor results, but instead creating a space where people are loved and given a chance to be real, raw, and uncensored so that in time the real quality of their lives will shine through.

Remember – Is about His Kingdom…not ours.

Have a great and loving weekend!
