One by One He Called Them

I am learning that the Gospel is not at its most effective when we are reaching hundreds or even thousands all at once, but instead when we focus on loving our neighbour.

I am understanding that as I love the one or two God has placed before me this moment I stand a greater chance of reaching the thousands. I am discovering that real love was meant to multiply through the one to one and not necessarily the 1000 to one ratio. If it was not meant to be this way then Jesus would have answered the question differently when asked what are the two greatest commandments. His focus if we are honest was never on the big crowds as much as it was on the 12 he hang out with every day. Yes the crowds came and went however it was through the 12 he intimately related with that he went on to impact the known world.

Yes there is absolutely nothing wrong with reaching thousands but if we want to really see everyone discover this wonderful love God has for us then we must focus on the one to one and let God worry about the thousands. The one to one encourages a space of fellowship where both parties are enriched by one another. Over time this fellowship attracts others and so a community begins to flow together all centered around the love of God and not just through one spiritual super star, personality, or weekly event.

So today don’t worry if you are not on a platform made by the hands of men. The only platform you will ever need is called your life. It is through here that God wants to love those He brings before you. These will range from someone you meet, work with, live with, or today that focus might only be just for you…

Remember – There is a very good reason why a marriage is made up by only two people and not hundreds.
