Divine Nobody

When we look to labels to help us understand life we run into the danger of also using the same labels to try and understand God. Many of us do this to find the sense of security that tells us that we have managed to somehow know something certain about him and in some respect we have finally figured him out.

If we take this approach at face value even the name God in itself is a huge label that comes with all sorts of filters and agendas often dependent on what sort of upbringing, background, culture, and tradition you originate from in this world. I am discovering that if we really want to understand ourselves and the One that made us we need to ask for the grace that will enable us to travel through a space where all these self serving labels will be shed so that in their place what is true can begin to be revealed. Truth that comes from God and not from us leaning onto our own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5)

The more I choose to travel on this road the less I know,  yet the more I believe, and the more sense it makes why when Moses asked God to name himself he declined by simply saying I AM who I AM.
